For the second year in a row, Bourbon Heights, Inc. has achieved the distinguished VOHRA “Wound Care Center of Excellence”. Meaning that our facility has developed and continues to manage a superior wound management program with a wound-related hospitalization rate of less than 1%. Currently, 300 facilities hold the distinction of being a VOHRA Center of Excellence in Wound Management across the nation.
Bourbon Heights, Inc. has a designated and accountable VOHRA Wound Certified Nurse seven days a week, Jennifer Sexton. Jennifer has nearly 20 years of experience in the medical field; starting off as an SRNA, then completing her LPN studies in 2008, to then becoming Wound Care and Infection Control Nurse at BHI two years ago. She holds credentials from the American Board of Wound Management as well as VWCN- Vohra Wound Care Nurse. “I have always been fascinated with wounds and the difference in healing processes.” stated Jennifer with excitement.
Dr. Monica Hall-Robertson has been a VOHRA Physician Specialist for three years. She is board certified in general surgery and plastic surgery, working with BHI for over two years. Dr. Hall-Robertson rounds with Jennifer every Monday in order to ensure proper wound healing/progress and any needs for treatment changes. “Jennifer Sexton and the team here at Bourbon Heights are exceptional and have maintained an excellent wound care program even in the face of last year’s challenges.” said Dr. Hall-Robertson.
Jennifer said, “this achievement is very much a team effort. Nurses do the treatments daily, SRNAs are great at communicating any skin issues/changes and Central Supply keeps the facility stocked with necessary supplies for treatments. Plus we have good support from all of our providers.”
Congratulations on a great accomplishment, team!
